Palm Sunday Parade: Sunday, April 9 at 9:30 a.m.

Every year, NHPC has a Palm Sunday parade with bells, palms, special events and more! We parade around the parking lot (in nice weather), or inside the building (in inclement weather).

If you would like to be a reader, musician or actor in one of the parades’ stops, let Robert know at robert@newhanoverpres.org.

Palm Sunday Evening: Sunday, April 9 at 6 p.m.

There will be Second Sunday Celtic Worship. Eric Douglass will lead a service of candlelight and communion in the sanctuary.

Special Devotions & Prayers

Each day during Holy Week will feature special devotions and prayers on our website from the pastor.

Maundy Thursday: Thursday, April 13 at 7 p.m.

Maundy Thursday, rapidly becoming a very significant day in our church calendar, will feature a service of communion. Thomas Raper will be preaching this year.

Good Friday: Friday, April 14

Good Friday will not have any services, but the sanctuary will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for meditation. A meditation guide will be available, and contemplative music will play all day.

Easter Sunday: Sunday, April 16

Easter Sunday will be a banner day! Activities begin with the Mechanicsville Presbyterian Churches presenting an Easter Sunrise Service hosted by the Historic Polegreen Church Foundation at the Polegreen church site at 6411 Heatherwood Dr, Mechanicsville, VA 23116. The service begins at 7 a.m. Nancy Clark, a longtime friend of NHPC will be preaching. There is no roof or seating so bring your own chair and blanket (if needed). Rain or shine.

Easter activities continue at 9:30 a.m. with Easter Sunday worship. Special readings, a transformative message, inspiriting music and great fellowship will reward each attendee. THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO BRING THAT NEIGHBOR OR FRIEND WHO DOESN’T ATTEND CHURCH! Someone is waiting for your invitation out there!

Pot Luck Brunch: Easter Sunday, April 16

Following the service we will have a festal brunch, celebrating Resurrection Sunday with our new friends from New Beginnings Church sponsored by our deacons. New Beginnings worships at 10 a.m., so we will have a few minutes of fellowship and appetizers while we wait for their services to conclude. Please remember to bring your choice of a brunch-style dish with enough to share with a large crowd.

Everyone is invited and there is no cost. Please your appetite and a dish to share! Beverages will be provided.
