On Sunday, July 10 the James River Ringers performed their annual summer concert at New Hanover Presbyterian Church for a crowd of 70+ people.  The theme of the concert was “Ring Around the World” and featured musical selections from different countries including Russia, Ireland, and the United States. Crowd favorites included  Variations – a song based on the nursery rhyme Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star as well asThe Best of John Williams, a medley featuring music from Close Encounters, the Olympic theme song  and of course, Star Wars. In addition to some wonderful music, the concert attendees were treated to a delicious ice cream treat, served up by the ringers themselves.

The James River Ringers is Richmond’s premiere auditioned community handbell ensemble. Since its inception in 1997, the mission of the James River Ringers is to promote the art of handbell ringing and to present quality handbell music through public concerts, workshops, and classes that help to both educate and entertain. If you are interested in more information about this group, you can visit their website at http://www.jamesriverringers.org. The James River Ringers also has a personal connection to New Hanover. Pam O’Brien and Rob Embledge of our own New Hanover Ringers are ringing members of the James River Ringers.
