“Remember your baptism – and be thankful.”  You hear these words every week, and yet sometimes we wonder why we make so much of this (for many of us) long-ago event. Baptism is how Christians receive their ultimate identity. Saying that we are baptized is like saying we were given a name by our parents – our baptism gives us our identity as belonging to God’s family in the world.

This week, our scripture passages helped us understand more about our baptism and the significance it has for God, for us and for the world. We looked at Genesis 9, 1 Peter 3:18-22 and Mark 1:9-15.
