New Hanover will recognize Advent this year with four weeks of Celtic services. Christian worship in the Celtic tradition is not a particular order of worship, but a way of paying attention to all of the ways we encounter God’s way of ministering to us.

This week, our service will include music food and fellowship all in one amazing service. You will want to be with us this Sunday at 9:30 for worship that INCLUDES a full Irish Breakfast served by our deacons. The service will include communion which we will receive around the tables – as the early church did. Robert will begin an Advent series of sermons looking at the significance of the second coming of Christ – as Jesus himself saw it.

Scriptures this week are 1 Corinthians 1:3-9, Mark 13:14-37 and Isaiah 64:1-9.

…We hope you will join us after worship for a workshop, where families will make and decorate an Advent wreath for the home(one per residence, please). We will also provide a printed guide to use with your wreath with suggested Scripture readings and a prayer.
…We invite you to bring in craft supplies, to share, for the Advent Wreath Making Workshop after the service. We need yarn, ribbon, pine cones, small Christmas ornaments, fake flowers, etc.
…We also need teapots to be used during the Irish breakfast.

If you have craft supplies to donate or you can lend us a teapot, please let Graham know by emailing him at
