Juneteenth Cookie Baking for Real Life. Help the men and women of Real Life celebrate Juneteenth by baking and then delivering boxes of homemade cookies for this special holiday. Juneteenth or “Freedom Day” is a federal holiday that commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and is an opportunity to both celebrate human freedom and to reflect on the ongoing legacy of slavery and racism.
NHPC cookie baking day was May 21 immediately following the congregational meeting. That date has now passed BUT we are still needing many dozens of cookies. (We are filling 13 boxes for 12 Recovery Homes and the Administrative Staff, with 2-3 dozen cookies per box. That’s a lot of cookies!!) YOU can bake cookies at home and bring them to church. Cookies from home should be labeled for Real Life and placed in the freezer in the big kitchen, no later than June 11. (There will be a sign on the freezer, so you know where to put them.)
