As a pastoral counselor, Terry Diebold welcomes people of all faiths. It is her calling to help people in our community find the wholeness which God wishes for them. Even when people have turned from God, it is not her role to judge, but rather to bring healing. Pastoral counseling blends solid psychological techniques with spiritual awareness to bring restoration if the individual is willing to make the journey and necessary changes.
Terry graduated from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary with a Master’s Degree in both Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) and Divinity (M. Div.) She is an ordained Presbyterian minister and licensed as both a Marriage and Family Therapist and a Professional Counselor. She is a Clinical Fellow in the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT).
Terry is also a Level II EMDR therapist. EMDR (EMDRIA.com) is a tool that resolves issues in many areas–PTSD, sports, “stuckness,” fear, self-esteem. It is a quick and effective way to shorten therapy and allows the person to heal utilizing his or her own natural brain functions.
As the author of The Myth of Self-Esteem Terry shows how correcting negative self- beliefs allows people to resolve the hidden issues that prevent them from living fully and reaching their goals.
Terry is not an employee of NHPC. Rather she has been given space in the building out of our church’s desire to make counseling available to the community. She does not accept insurance but uses a sliding scale to determine her fees. Terry is available by appointment several days a week. You may reach her at (540) 455-4186 or through email.
