When you hear the words “obey” or “submit”, what comes to mind? Besides, that is, a huge red flag being waved in front of your face? We have seen, over the course of human history, those terms used to justify everything from wife-beating to abuse of employees to slavery. So why does the Apostle Paul seem so attached to them?
Sunday, we will look at Galatians chapter 5, and the puzzling juxtaposition of Paul saying “do not submit again to a yoke of slavery” and then encouraging voluntary slavery 200 words later. How can these two things be said together – and the latter possibly be defended? See Galatians chapter 5 and Luke 9:51-62.
