When Jesus asked his disciples the question “Who do you say that I am?” (in Mark 8: 29) Peter came back almost immediately and said “You are the Messiah – the Christ!”
Then, in the next story, Peter showed he had no idea what that really meant.
What does it mean to say “You are the Messiah” in reference to Jesus? For that fact, if we were to say who we thought Jesus was, and who he is to us, what would we say?
To get ready for this Sunday’s service, read Mark 8:27-38 and Colossians 1:15-20. We will have a special reading of Psalm 19 this week as well, featuring Hank Foley as well as the New Hanover Choir.
