You walk up to the mirror. You look deeply at the face reflected back to you.
Who hasn’t been a disappointment to themselves or others? Certainly the Apostle Paul counted himself among the disappointment brigade! Romans 7 is a diary of his struggle to be the man he knew he wanted to be… and a confession of his constant failure to do just that. If this is humanity’s common problem – knowing better than we do, what hope is there for us? This week’s sermon “The Big Disappointment” looks at this struggle to be as good as we want to be from Romans 7:15-25, and takes in a perspective from Jesus from Matthew 11:16-30.
