This week we look at the one of the greatest commandments, to love our neighbor as ourself.
In the third century, there was such a movement against the self by the church that the prevailing message about ourselves was that even though God loved us, we were really despicable in the flesh. Even Calvin described self love as a “noxious pest.” But the second greatest commandment gives us pause as Jesus tells us that he realizes we love our self.
So, is it good or bad? Are we supposed to love ourself or not?
