Our Worship Services:
We follow a blended worship style during worship, starting at 9:30 a.m. – blended Worship is a combination of different styles of worship into one service, allowing many different people opportunities to connect with God in the ways that best suit their needs, while also exposing them to new styles that may help them, or their neighbor, find God in an unexpected place. There are traditional hymns and contemporary songs. At all times, our Pastor and worship team work to ensure that the service flows from prelude to postlude, and incorporates worship elements from our Presbyterian and reformed heritage. We also offer a live stream of our service each week. Contact our church office to be added to the weekly email which provides the link to the service, or find us on YouTube.
Dress – What to Wear
We have no dress code. Whether you are dressed formally or informally, God welcomes you, and so do we. You will see people dressed from t-shirts and jeans to business casual to dresses and suits with ties. More important than what you wear is that you are here!
The Offering
During the service, all those who call New Hanover Presbyterian their church home are given an opportunity to present the offerings of their life and labor to the Lord! One Sunday a month we focus on our mission and service theme of “Love in Action” and collect a separate Five Cents a Meal offering to support the hunger ministries of the Presbytery of the James. From time to time we take special offerings to support various mission and ministry. These will always be described during the service before the offering is collected.
Communion
On the first Sunday of each month, communion is served. Some months it is served in the seats, where trays of bread and mini-cups of juice are passed down each row, other months everyone comes forward to receive the bread and cup at the front by intinction. We are sensitive to those with dietary restrictions and have gluten-free communion bread available.
Children and Nursery
A clean and bright nursery is available during worship each week. Ask a greeter for directions to the nursery in the education wing. Children are welcome in worship and you can find children’s activity sheets and supplies in our narthex.
Fellowship Time After Worship
We offer a time to gather for fellowship with coffee and light snacks each week. We gather right outside the sanctuary in Laburnum Commons and all are welcome and encouraged to join in fellowship during this time.
Directions, Parking, and Map
Park anywhere you would like, you can turn right as you enter or go straight ahead to park. We have ample parking for the mobility impaired. Enter through the door to the right of the three arched windows and you will be greeted and directed to our Sanctuary for worship. A wheelchair is available if needed. Ask an usher for assistance.
