Our Worship Services
We follow a blended worship style during worship, starting at 9:30 a.m. – blended Worship is a combination of different styles of worship into one service, allowing many different people opportunities to connect with God in the ways that best suit their needs, while also exposing them to new styles that may help them, or their neighbor, find God in an unexpected place. There are traditional hymns and contemporary songs. At all times, our Pastor and worship team work to ensure that the service flows from prelude to postlude, and incorporates worship elements from our Presbyterian and reformed heritage.
During the service, all those who call New Hanover Presbyterian their church home are given an opportunity to present the offerings of their life and labor to the Lord! One Sunday a month we focus on our mission and service theme of “Love in Action” and collect a separate Five Cents a Meal offering to support the hunger ministries of the Presbytery of the James. From time to time we take special offerings to support various mission and ministry, these will always be described during the service before the offering is collected.
On the first Sunday of each month, communion is served. Some months it is served in the seats, where trays of bread and mini-cups of juice are passed down each row, other months everyone comes forward to receive the bread and cup at the front by intinction. We are sensitive to those with dietary restrictions and have gluten-free communion bread available.
